HECO®NOX antioxidants for the plastics industry
It doesn’t always take high heat, even at normal room temperature polymers can already start corroding – not only during processing but also in the finished product. Thermal influences not only cause skin to age more quickly and wrinkles to appear, plastics are not spared either. The result: cracks and embrittlement. At first, the polymer chains are attacked on the inside, they break and react with oxygen. Later, the embrittlement is also noticeable and visible on the outside – the plastic façade crumbles and loses its colour brilliance.
We counteract this ageing process of plastics through heat-related decomposition with two different types of our HECO®NOX antioxidants – preferably as a heat-resistant rejuvenating combination:
Radical Action – Primary antioxidants act as radical scavengers and prevent the oxidation of the long polymer chains with oxygen.
Smooth action – Secondary antioxidants act as peroxide decomposers to dissolve aggressive peroxides and stop the decomposition of the plastic smoothly.
Whether as a primary antioxidant such as HECO®NOX 604 PS or as antioxidant mixtures such as HECO®NOX 625 PE and HECO®NOX 605 PA – with our HECO®NOX antioxidants, plastics become thermally stable, live longer and remain supple. By the way, our thermostabilising additives are often used with recycled material so that the second plastic life also remains “wrinkle-free” for as long as possible.
We would also be happy to delay the ageing process of your plastic!
